Cafe El Punto

If you happen to be strolling down old San Juan and wondering where to eat Puerto Rican food, no doubt you have come to the right place. With over 75 restaurants to choose from and to add on that list, La Bombonera perhaps might be a good place to dine. Known for its home-style Puerto Rican soup, (Asopao) a typical Puerto Rican authentic dish.  And let's not forget the most delicious local made pastries made on the island.

After long years and diligent research on fine dining in San Juan, I didn't take long to realize Cafe El Punto was my most preferred place to dine in San Juan. The ambiance and feeling once you enter inside says it all.  The well-manicured art exhibits alongside the walls along with the comforting atmosphere obviously so ebullient as it's felt once you arrive at the Cafe El Punto.

Unlike any other place this wonderful Gem located in the heart of Old San Juan minutes away from the Port, has so much variety to choose from. The Popular Traditional Plantain dish we have all come to love, the Mofongo Plantain dish, the plantain mashed with a mahogany hardwood mortar and pestle called a pilon along pieces of Pork and garlic are added to enhance the rich flavors.

Once inside you can't help hearing the echoing sound of Puerto Rican folk music emanating from our host-singer Don Carlos, A true artist who often serenades the guest with traditional Popular folk music. Cafe El Punto is perhaps the place that offers the comfort and aura. Originally, started as a small "Kiosk" since 1992 selling an assortment of refreshments. The business further expanded until Cafe El Punto was finally born.

Imagine for just a second sitting in this charming and eloquent inviting place so captivating and adorned with beautiful paintings, your focus begins to swift marveling the Menu selection. The Avocado stuff with Shrimp was my first to have tried such a delicious Dish.
